Dickie Moore was born January 6, 1931 in Montreal Quebec. Dickie played with the Montreal Canadiens from 1951 to 1963. He won the Art Ross Trophy in 1957-58 and 1958-59. In 1958-59 he broke Gordie Howe's record of 95 points in a season with 41 goals and 55 assists. He won his first Stanley Cup in 1953. His greatest feat was winning 5 consecutive Stanley Cups from 1956 to 1960.

In 1974, Dickie Moore was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

On November 12, 2005, the Habs retired the number 12 in honor of Moore and Cournoyer who also wore number 12..
